19th Amendment Gave Women the Right to Vote
When we speak of the social mission in relation to the responsibility of all citizens to vote, we often forget that women were denied the right to vote until 1920. On August 26th, we will commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment of the Constitution which granted women the right to vote. It was a long, hard-fought civil rights battle by courageous women, which went on for almost 75 years before the Constitution was amended. The observance of Women’s Equality Day on August 26th also calls attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality.
True Teachers—“Believe one who has tried, you shall find a fuller satisfaction in the woods than in books. The trees and the rocks will teach you that which you cannot hear from the masters.” —St. Bernard of Clairvaux
