Fr. Lio speaks at Farewell service
We have said our goodbyes to the Church building, and now it is time to move forward in a spirit of hope. We are like a woman in labor groaning with the pain to end but looking forward with anticipation to the birth of a new space. Getting us to that place will require patience and sacrifice.
I continue to plan with the Parish Building Committee to upgrade the pavilion at St. Paul's. We will give the place a facelift. I am hopeful that I can soon re-institute the practice of having Mass there on the 4th Saturday of each month. The Church will be closed indefinitely and you will notice that it is fenced to prevent any injuries.
It has been two weeks since our One `Ohana. Hopefully, you are using the magazine "Generations" with the children to help them reinforce those lessons on the DIGNITY OF THE HUMAN PERSON. For the adults, there were two Catholic Updates which focused on Ethical Issues and Human Dignity.
On December 6th (Sunday), we will gather again to talk about the ways in which we can respond to poverty as Jesus did. We will also be talking about Advent and our preparation for the Feast of the Nativity of the Lord. Poverty and the birth of Jesus go hand in hand.
The structure for our next One `Ohana will be the same as last time, except December 6th it will be cooler! There will be a meal, followed by gathering, prayer, age-related activities and reflection. I look forward to seeing all who came October 25th and hopefully more will join us. I am very proud to tell my fellow pastors about the creative approach you are all helping us to make the way we form people of the North Kona Catholic Community in the faith. It was especially good to see kapunas join us.
The names of the dead are all recorded in the Book of the Dead. The book will be displayed every day at Mass to remind us to pray for those who have gone before us. Peace in Christ, —Fr. Lio| < Prev | Next > |
