In last week’s bulletin, I know I thanked all those who helped with the cemetery cleaning. Today, I would like to comment on the community spirit these people displayed. Two very young members of the Hispanic community joined the adults to clean St. Paul’s. At St. Michael’s, Auntie Melvine spent almost the entire morning raking and weeding around the graves. Walker in hand, she kept up with her work to tidy up her families’ graves. My group at Holualoa gave their all, also. The response was great at each of the cemeteries. Mahalo to all of you!
Thanks to all those who attended the One ‘Ohana on October 31st. I am grateful to the parents, in particular, for bringing your children and working with them. Our approach is “whole-community,” therefore, it is important for everyone to participate. It is essential for all who are preparing for Holy Communion (2 years) and Confirmation (2 years).
Next Saturday, I will meet with all those ministers who help with the various Liturgical ministries in all of our churches. It is a “must” meeting that will give us an opportunity to update training, modify, correct, and exchange ideas. The meeting is scheduled for 11AM on Nov. 13th.
You have been reading about the Youth Ministry in the bulletin. Parents, have your teens from Grades 9-12 talk to kids who already attend. The group continues to grow as word spreads. Encourage them to attend the Youth gatherings on the first and third Fridays of each month at 5:30PM. The youth meet for dinner, prayer, fun and service.
Last weekend, we welcomed three young children into the church. Landon Shane Malisou, Khearah Arboleda, and Emmanuel Ramos all received the Sacrament of Baptism. Please support these children and their parents to grow in the love of God and the beliefs they have professed.
Please note that Lisa Ferraro, one of our parishioners, is available for both individual and group bereavement counseling. If you would like more information, please email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or see her at the 4PM Mass on Sunday. Walter will be putting detailed information about this ministry on the website soon.
Peace to all of you this week,
Fr. Lio
