We are Jesus’ witnesses to the ends of the earth. This week, as we reflect on the mission we inherited from Jesus, we also prepare for the coming of the Spirit who guides us in the work of evangelization and spreading the Good News.
We welcome the Bishop of Tonga who will preside at the 5pm Mass today, Saturday. At this Mass, Peni Vea will receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist. Let us remember him in our prayers as he leaves to study and play football at the University of Utah.
A huge mahalo to all who came to clean the three cemeteries the Saturday before Memorial Day. It is always heartening to see all the weeds gone and see potted flowers placed on graves. Knowing the people of St. Michael’s, I suspect that those who are buried in our cemeteries did the same thing you did last Saturday for those who went before them. It is a wonderful tradition.
Thank you to all who were able and willing to contribute to the Capital Campaign we conducted at the Masses for St. Michael’s Building Fund on the weekend of May 21-22. A total of $240,650 in cash, checks and pledges was raised. Every penny helps. We still have to raise $1.75 million. Perhaps we should begin to pray for a miracle.
Please remember the Tennis Tournament next Saturday. Also, buy your tickets today for Father John’s Farewell Celebration. You don’t want to miss this bash!
Peace in Christ,
